The crucifixion of the last Ariers was a harsh crackdown by Untred V against the remnants of the former ruling house. When the last of the Aiers tried to raise a rebellion against the Southern Houses, the Emperor decided that their name no longer had a place in the realm and had them all crucified.
Remnants of a former dynasty
The Ariers family once ruled the empire, but after the fall of Valendor II. lost power, prestige and most of the political space. Yet its last remnants survived in the empire as a reminder of the earlier dynastic chapter. Under Untred V, this remaining branch attempted to raise a rebellion against the houses in the southern part of the empire.
The Emperor's harsh reply
Untred V decided that the Ariers were no longer welcome in the realm. He did not choose exile, judicial compromise or confiscation of property. He had them all crucified. In doing so, he sent a clear signal that the late Youlender government would not tolerate the return of old dynastic claims or the rebellion of the former ruling houses.
