James II's Elven Alliance
James II's Elven Alliance represented one of the most important diplomatic events of the Silver Age. The Emperor sent two battalions to aid the elves in their fight against the southern tribes of desert goblins, and in exchange gained new knowledge of herbs, healing, and different ways of magic.
Help the elves
The elven lands were facing pressure from the southern desert goblin tribes at this time. Jakob II decided to use the situation not only as an opportunity for military assistance, but also as an opportunity to strengthen relations with one of the continent's oldest and most influential races. He sent two Imperial battalions to the Elven battles. These performed very successfully and their deployment contributed to the strengthening of trust between the elves and the Empire.
Knowledge instead of gold
The elves didn't just reward their help with political favors. New knowledge of special herbs, healing, and ways of conjuring that differed from ordinary human elemental magic began to flow into the empire. These insights expanded the capabilities of the Imperial Mages. Thanks to the universities, new practices began to spread among the educated and gradually influenced the entire magical culture of the empire.
Long term impact
The Elven alliance was not just a one-time military aid. It created a bridge between the two traditions and showed that an empire could grow stronger not only through conquest but also through the exchange of knowledge. It was this type of diplomacy that helped James II. to gain a reputation as a ruler who knows how to combine practical help with long-term cultural gain.
