Twenty chosen ones
Untred V. decided to listen to the dwarves' request. He sent ten brave mages and ten of the best knights who volunteered for the expedition against the Lich. It was a small but extremely strong group. She was to find out the truth, stop the threat and confirm that the empire can face unknown magical dangers.
Silence after the expedition
However, around twenty, the ground collapsed. No knight returned, no mage and no reliable report. The silence that followed the expedition was more terrifying than the open slaughter. The Lich's threat thus remains one of the greatest mysteries of the current empire. No one knows if the expedition fell, was captured, betrayed, or ran into something the Empire doesn't yet understand.
