Rise of the Skull Hunters

Age of the First Empires cultural transformation 3 069–2 900 BIC

After the fall of Pender the Strong, the remnants of the goblin tribes re-formed into a new community known as the Skull Hunters. From the once united army, a network of assassins and mercenaries began to operate in the shadows of all of Ulvenor.

From the ashes of defeat

The death of Pender the Strong marked not only the end of his empire, but also the disintegration of the very idea of goblin unity. The surviving tribes were scattered, demoralized and without clear leadership. Instead of trying to reunify, many goblins chose to survive in other ways. They abandoned the idea of a great empire and began to adapt to a world that was hostile to them.

Birth of the Skull HuntersBirth of the Skull Hunters

These survivors gradually formed a new community known as the Skull Hunters. It was not a classic tribe, but a loose network of individuals and groups united by a common philosophy – to survive and earn at any cost. Skull hunters specialized in bounty hunting, murder, and dangerous errands. Their reputation grew rapidly and they soon became sought-after instruments of power for rulers, merchants, and secret factions alike.

Shadows of Ulvenor

Unlike Pender's empire, their power was not overt. The skull hunters operated in the shadows, often unseen but with devastating effect. Their interventions influenced many significant events in the history of Ulvenor. From assassinations of rulers to the destabilization of entire regions. Their influence was subtle but profound.

A long legacy

Over time, the Skull Hunters transformed into more organized structures. Secret guilds and groups were formed that passed on knowledge and contacts across generations. Unlike the short existence of the Pender Empire, their influence proved to be lasting. To this day, they represent one of the most dangerous forces in the gray zone of Ulvenor. While Pender sought to unite the goblins under one ruler, the Skullhunters showed a different path—a power that doesn't need a throne to rule the world.
