Nuriak
Nuriak was the first known kobold archmage and the founder of the kobold magical tradition. As one of the few, he was able not only to understand human elemental magic, but also to transform it according to the kobold nature. His discoveries fundamentally changed the way magic was done throughout Ulvenor.
Prophet of new power
Nuriak appeared at a time when kobold society stood firmly in the Jugger tradition - teachings focused on physical strength, endurance and control of one's own body. In such a world, magic was considered rather foreign and useless. But he saw something else. He recognized the potential in elemental magic that could push the kobolds further than physical strength alone had ever taken them. In doing so, he became not only a scholar, but also a prophet of a new path that his people initially refused to accept.
Establishment of Javorica
He founded the first kobold school of magic in the city of Javorica. Here he began to systematically teach, experiment and demonstrate what is possible. His work was not easy. He had to convince his own people that magic was not weakness or dependence on human knowledge. However, he gradually gained his first followers. These disciples became the foundation of the future order of mystics.
The birth of the mystics
Nuriak created the first generation of kobolds who decided to abandon the traditional Jugger path and dedicate their lives to magic. From this group arose the order of mystics - a unique phenomenon in the history of Ulvenor. Unlike other races, magic gradually became part of the kobold's upbringing and identity. This move transformed kobold society and laid the foundation for their future magical dominance.
Discovery of mana
Nuriak's greatest contribution lay in his experiments with magical energy. He was the first to create potions known as mana. These substances made it possible to replenish energy and significantly extend the time for which the mage could cast spells. More fundamentally, they opened the way for repeated spellcasting. Thanks to this, magic became more practical, effective and, above all, more applicable in combat and everyday life.
Unrealized perfection
At the end of his life, Nuriak attempted something that no one before him had done - combine multiple elements into one massive spell. This experiment had the potential to change the very nature of magic. Instead, however, it ended in disaster. Nuriak died in 26 AD, ending one of the most important figures in kobold history.
A forgotten giant
While Nuriak is celebrated in kobold legends as the founder of their magical power, he has been all but forgotten by human history. At the same time, it was his discoveries that enabled the development of modern magic as we know it today. Nuriak thus remains a paradoxical figure - a man who changed the world without most of the world realizing it.
