Elven victory at the Maple Grove
The decisive clash between the First Elven Empire and the Desert Goblins. At the Battle of Maplewood, Sylvar and her elite rangers destroyed the main force of the goblin tribes and definitively turned the tide of the long conflict in favor of the elves.
The last big raid
In 23,892 BC, the desert goblin tribes launched another large-scale attack on elven territories. For generations their raids had been successful and yielded easy prey, so they expected history to repeat itself. However, the goblins failed to recognize that the elves were no longer fragmented communities. At that time, the First Elven Empire was already firmly established and ready to face the threat unitedly. The raid, which should have been another victory, turned into a fatal mistake.
Sylvar and the Elven Rangers
Sylvar led the united elven forces personally, relying on her elite units - the elven rangers. These cloaked archers were masters of movement in the forest environment and could fight stealthily, accurately and without warning. They prepared a trap for the goblins in the area of Javorove hvozd. They took advantage of dense vegetation, terrain and perfect coordination. Even before an open engagement could take place, the goblin ranks began to collapse under accurate and continuous fire.
Destruction of the goblin tribes
Once the goblin army was weakened and disorganized, the main elven forces attacked. What followed was not an even battle but a systematic defeat. Accustomed to quick raids, the goblins were unprepared for coordinated resistance and lost the ability to respond effectively. The two large tribes were almost wiped out and the rest of the forces were forced to retreat deep into the deserts. The Battle of the Maple Grove thus became one of the worst moments in the history of the desert goblins.
Consequences of victory
After this victory, the elves systematically strengthened their borders and created defensive structures that prevented further goblin raids for a long time. For the first time in history, they were able not only to defend their territory, but also to permanently eliminate an external threat. At the same time, the Battle of the Maple Grove confirmed the strength of the united elven empire. It showed that their new political order is not just a reaction to the crisis, but a stable system capable of long-term defense and territorial control. In a broader sense, it was the moment when the era in which the goblins dictated the pace of the conflict finally came to a close. From this point on, they were in retreat – and the elves became the dominant force in southern Ulvenor.
