The Magic Kings represent the period in which Magnursia transformed from a wealthy kingdom into an aggressive and military-magical power. The rulers of this era institutionalized magic, used it for war, built intelligence networks, transformed the military, and gradually plunged the continent into the Great War. It is an epoch where the old order ends and a new one is born in fire, blood and magic.

Why is the period called the Magic KingsZ

This period bears its name because it was precisely in this period that magic definitively moved from a secret teaching and fringe phenomenon to the center of state power. The kings not only tolerated her anymore. They learned it, institutionalized it, used it in war and understood it as the main strategic advantage of their state.

At the same time, it is a period when the very image of the ruler changes. The king is no longer just a dynastic heir and a warrior. He is also the patron saint of magic, the organizer of magic schools and sometimes the direct bearer of this new type of power.

The beginning of a new era

After the collapse of the old silk order, Jakob I. the Reformer took office, who first had to put the state back on its feet. It was at this time that it became clear that Magnursia would no longer be just a rich kingdom, but a centralized power ready to rely on army, taxes and magic as a unified system. Banners, a new logic of military command, and the first official school of magic were born. All of these are the reasons why this very moment is seen as the true beginning of the magical age of rulers.

Magic as a tool of the state

Ignatius II. Unbreakable and Ignatius III. The Weaver of Intrigue turned magic into a tool of power. The foundations, which originally acted as court novelties, became a military and geopolitical advantage. There were schools of destructive magic, the first battle mages, and a system to ensure that the highest level of magical education remained under the kingdom's control. This is how Magnursia began to differentiate itself from all other human states. It was no longer just about a better army or more money. It was a different kind of war and a different kind of state power.

Road to the Great War

Richard III Magnursie's sword turned the long preparations into a real explosion. The war, which was originally supposed to be another human conflict, turned into the largest continental conflict of its time. Other human states, elves, centaurs, gnomes and other powers have joined. The Kings of Magic thus stand at the birth of a new reality: the war ceases to be a matter of neighborhood and becomes a struggle for a new form of the continent.

From defense to exhaustion

John I, Alfred I and Wavrin I led Magnursia on through increasing pressure. Each of them differently. Jan through defensive strategy and use of space, Alfred through systematic campaigns and military excellence, Vavrin through desperate possession of an overloaded unit. By the end of this era, it was obvious that the old kingdom had reached the limit of its framework. The Battle of the Luna River became not only a huge clash, but also a sign that the next stage of history can no longer be just a continuation of the royal past.

The importance of the period for further history

The magic kings represent the direct vestibule of the empire. Without this era, there would be no idea that a human ruler could reshape the history of an entire continent. Here, Magnursia gained military confidence, magical superiority, and imperial ambition.

At the same time, it is a period that showed the price of this journey. The continent was plunged into a catastrophe so vast that the old concept of kingdom was no longer sufficient for such a power.
