The Age of Reshaping the World
The Age of World Reshaping is an epoch in which the old order of the First Empires began to give way to faster, more dynamic, and often more destructive forces. The biggest change was the arrival of elemental magic from the western continent, brought to Ulvenor by Sorcer. Originally a mysterious cult and school, elemental magic quickly spread, transforming warfare, state power, and race relations. It was in this age that Magnursia was formed, the Empire of Magnursar was born, the Great War took place, elven power was broken, kobolds and other races mastered new magical arts, and the world entered the current uneasy balance of 1470.
Why is the period called the Age of World ReshapingZ
The name is based on the fact that not only the borders but the very rules of power changed in this epoch. The elemental magic brought by the Sorcerer made it possible to breach walls, destroy armies, heal, strengthen the body, manipulate the mind, and reshape battles on a scale previously unknown to states.
This age is also the age of human ascension. The Kingdom of Magnursia turned from a regional power into an empire, and after the coronation of Leo II. The conqueror created the imperial calendar. However, the transformation did not mean only the triumph of the people. Other races learned magic as well, and the world became more complex, more dangerous, and much less predictable.
Sorcerer and magic from the west
The fundamental turning point of this age was brought about by Sorcer, a man who, according to tradition, crossed the Green Sea to the unknown western continent. It was from there that he brought systematic knowledge of elemental magic to Ulvenor. Elder races had known shamanic, natural, and spiritual forms of magic long ago, but the Sorcerer's teachings were different. It was portable, divided into elements, usable in teaching, politics and war.
Upon his return, Sorcer did not speak much of the Western Continent. Instead, he founded a school, or rather a cult, that taught working with Essence through fire, water, lightning, darkness, psychic and physical magic. This power was initially spread as a dangerous secret, but soon proved to be too powerful to remain on the fringes of society.
Magnursia and the Birth of the Empire
Humans were able to use the new magic faster than most of the older powers. Founded by Magnus I in -903, the Kingdom of Magnursia already had a more solid government, a dynastic structure, and an ambition to become more than just one of many human states. Elemental magic gave him a tool that could turn this ambition into reality.
In the following centuries, Magnursie became increasingly powerful. Battle mages changed the shape of battles, fortresses lost their former certainty, and old royal worlds began to crumble under the pressure of a new military reality. The Great War eventually reshaped all of Ulvenor and the coronation of Leo II. Conquerors in the year 0 established the Magnursar Empire and the new imperial calendar.
Magic in the hands of other races
However, elemental magic did not remain a human possession. Kobolds were among the first non-human races to fully understand her potential. In Javorica, thanks to Nuriak, the first significant school of kobold magic was established, which showed that magic does not have to be only a tool of Magnursia. Kobold mystics have linked it with their own lore of attunement, wetland memory, and survival techniques.
Elves were more wary of elemental magic because their older natural magic was deeply rooted in culture and belief. The dwarves accepted her practically, especially where she helped in the defense of the halls, forges and work with materials. Gnomes began to combine it with machines and created the basis of magic technology. This made the world much more diverse, but also more dangerous.
New states, old grievances
The Age of Reshaping the World brought not only the expansion of the Empire, but also resistance to it. The Free Kingdom arose as a human state rejecting imperial rule. The Gnome Kingdom was reduced in size by the Great War, but survived as an advanced city-state. The Stone Crown remained an ally of the Empire, not its subjects. The Great Plains retained their own kobold and centaur dynamics.
The old elven power was weakened but not gone. The drow in Umbra Profunda have created their own harsh civilization of desert and shadow. The orcs of Ghur-Khadan began to enter Western history more and more prominently. Naga kobolds guarded the Green Sea and its secrets. Ulvenor thus became not a world of one empire, but a world where the Empire had to constantly negotiate with many older and younger powers.
The year 1470 and the coming turning point
At the end of this age, in 1470 AD, the Magnursar Empire is no longer at the height of its power. It is still Ulvenor's most important human realm, but its borders are strained, its provinces weary, and its old certainties less solid than before. Untred V was able to prevent further territorial losses, but rules an empire that must face pressure from many sides.
In the north, the Lich of the Frozen Stones is awakening and his undead are threatening the Stonecrown. In the east, orc tribes grow stronger and ex-nomadic areas change their character. In the west, the tension of the Great Plains continues, and in the south the Elven memory of the Great War survives. The western continent where the magic came from remains unknown. The age of reshaping the world does not end with peace, but with the feeling that the next great transformation has already begun.
The importance of the period for further history
The age of reshaping the world is explained by contemporary Ulvenor. It was here that the power of the Empire arose, elemental magic spread, the shape of war changed, and the older races lost some of their self-evident superiority.
At the same time, however, this age shows that no hegemony is complete. Humans may have created the greatest empire, but other nations have learned to face the new power, adapt to it, or reshape it in their own way. The current year 1470 is therefore the result of a long transformation, not its end.
